When I first started nursing AG (is this TMI? Maybe, but I need some help here), the pregnancy weight was coming off pretty easily. But now, I'm 4 months in, and we've hit a bit of a wall. And by "we", I mean "I," since I am fairly positive that I don't possess multiple personailites. Yet.
Has anyone else experienced this weight loss wall, or known someone who has? I would really like to hear that it's normal, since when I google "nursing" and "weight loss," I get sent to all these annoying message boards where people say things like: "OMG, I gained 95lbs when I was pregnant, and within six weeks it was all GONE, and now I weigh 10 pounds less than I did before I got pregnant.....oh, and my baby is only 2 months old."
Really? I mean, REALLY? I am clinging to hope that maybe my body is hanging on to a few extra lbs so that I can keep nursing AG. Or maybe it's just hanging on because I keep eating sugar cookies and golden oreos.
Encourage me, ladies! Is it false hope to think that I won't lose those extra 6 (ish) pounds until I'm done nursing?
(Also, I may or may not have said the word "nursing" a few too many times. My apologies.)
(Which seems like a weird word now that I've said it a few times in a row. Nursing, nursing, nursing.)

ooh - I look forward to checking back for answers here. But, if you only have 6 left to use, then you are a CHAMP!! Umm...I shall not say here how much I have to lose but let's just say I really ENJOYED my pregnancy carbs and sugar. But, what I was going to write before I got in to that was that I WAS losing weight until the ped told me I needed to eat more to help my supply and I stupidly stepped on the scale today to find I GAINED. Umm...OK, trying to focus on feeding my kid but it is discouraging! I did, however, have a good friend who has had 3 tell tell me it takes a full 6 months to a year...
Sherri - I decided I have to officially "de-lurk" to leave a comment on this post!! (Please don't hate me that I've just been enjoying all your hilarious stories and giving you no comments in return! :)) Let's just say hypothetically that I had 45ish pounds to lose after Annie was born at the end of May. (Too many mashed potatoes in the first trimester!) EVERYONE was like "It'll just melt right off with no effort since you're nursing." And some did melt right off. But I kept on hitting walls....I'd lose 5 pounds all at once and then stay at that weight for a month. And then lose 5 more and then hit a wall. Annie is 8 months now and I am finally within a pound or two and I look back and think that the weight coming off pretty much corresponded to when I would drop a feeding and not so much about when I was eating right and exercising. But you're a champ for already being 6 pounds away, so I'm sure you'll be back to "normal" in no time!

(Sorry for the novel of a comment!)
Right there with you girl- about 6 lbs left to go and Ive been done with nursing for a little while! Ive heard the same plateu story from lots of my mommy friends though- I think its pretty normal while you are still under that 6 month or even a year mark! But I will tell you this- you look GREAT!
you are correct in your thinking. once you stop nursing it will be easier to lose those last few pounds. your body holds on to those "just in case."
ps...no matter what your body never returns to the same shape/feel before you had a baby even if your weight does...
love you!

6 months was the magic jewel for me and it kept coming off with little exercise and eating whatever I wanted. Ooops - then I got pregnant again and now it starts all over! You look hot! I can't wait to see you soon. Eat what you want and enjoy that little baby sucking it away. Brad said I was so addicted to nursing/pumping that I would continue to do it as my diet regime the rest of my life. Maybe???
Hey girl! I have exactly 6 pounds to lose! I lost 3 in the last month, but I am POSITIVE that the last 5 will stay on until I stop nursing. Same thing when I had EF...it is indeed a wall. No matter what you do! It's like cushioning in order to make milk. It's extremely irritating and I'm so glad to hear someone else mention it. My mission is to try to keep nursing without letting my selfish self get in the way...I would love to stop and get skinny too!!
